Product Manager – Mastering
**Job Description**
As a Product Manager – Mastering of Pearson Higher Education, you will specialize in understanding and advocating for the needs of our customers using Pearson course materials.
You will focus on how various personas access Pearson Mastering product platform products and manage their expectations within the Higher Education Institutional ecosystem.
You will be responsible for contributing to the Mastering product roadmap, working collaboratively with Product Leadership, Engineering, UX, and Program Management to ensure alignment with business and user needs.
You will develop expertise in Pearson’s products, platforms, and tools that support student and instructor adoption of Pearson titles.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is detail-oriented and able to manage moderately complex projects.

They must be a strong team player and communicator, capable of building relationships across various teams and levels within the organization.
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Develop deep expertise in the Pearson Mastering platform, focusing on enhancing the user experience and driving adoption across science, engineering, and related disciplines.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to customer satisfaction, UX, and platform performance to support the product roadmap.
+ Serve as a technical product manager for new feature development, including adaptive learning enhancements, interactive tutorials, real-time analytics dashboards, and integrations with Pearson+ eTextbooks.
+ Work closely with UX designers, customer experience specialists, product managers, and engineering teams to align features with user needs and ensure seamless integration with Pearson’s broader ecosystem.
+ Be accountable for the product backlog management, prioritize development efforts, and ensure collaboration with engineering teams.
+ Champion the user perspective, advocating for instructors and students throughout the product development lifecycle.
This role requires a highly motivated individual with a strong understanding of educational technology and a passion for improving student outcomes.
You will:
+ Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
+ Successfully execute the product roadmap and ensure timely delivery of new features and releases.
+ Be data-driven in decision-making, with a focus on continuous improvement.
**Qualifications:**
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or a minimum 6+ years' experience in product/program management or software development
Demonstrated prior experience leading cross-functional projects and building cross-platform solutions
Experience working with Learning Management Systems or Student Information Systems Preferred
Experience building and managing APIs, technical integrations, or platforms
Ability to work closely with engineering teams to design scalable solutions
Experience with Agile development methodologies and prioritizing backlogs for development teams; experience with Jira and Confluence is a plus
Detail-oriented, with ability to prioritize roadmaps and workload
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, for both technical and non-technical topics
Project management, leadership, and cross-group collaboration skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong listener, with ability to interview customers and stakeholders to understand what problems we need to solve for and translate those into product requirements
Strong team-player attitude, with ability to work well independently
Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability and desire to successfully work on a virtual team
